…you’ll be up to your armpits in Martians

I’ve got a cute card to share featuring a number of stamps from the Alien Invasion set by Gerda Steiner Designs.

This card is for a male friend and I was struggling a bit for idea until I saw the current theme at C.R.A.F.T. is aliens or fantasy.  This Gerda Steiner set is fairly new in my stash so I actually remembered I had them and could even find them!  The sentiment and banner are from the set too, I used it as this card will be signed by a few of us and we are always using any excuse for getting together and eating cake.

My card follows the sketch over at CAS-ual Fridays, I just shifted the sentiment element down so it didn’t obscure the images I used.  I cut the middle rectangle element but only embossed the other two so I could play along at Less is More for their dry embossing challenge.

So huge, so hopeless to conceive

Sharing a card I made with the beautiful Weeping Rose image from Aurora Wings.

I’ve had this image in my stash for a long time and decided it was about time I actually used it on a card.  Thought it would make a beautiful sympathy card so I teamed it with a sentiment from the Thoughts & Prayers set by Stampin’ Up!.

For my colour scheme I’ve followed the current palette at Color Throwdown.  I chose to colour only the roses on the image giving them dark purple centres going out to light purple.  The rest of the roses have been coloured in beige.  To add the final colour of brown I stamped my sentiment in Chocolate Chip ink from Stampin' Up!, adding a dusting of clear embossing powder over the top for some shine and texture.  I’ve also got some brown in the limited embellies I used, just three small sequins.  It’s really hard to tell in the photo but the image has also been foiled in rose gold.

I always think sympathy cards should be simple but elegant affairs so this is a one-layer card and I’m playing along at CAS on Friday with it.  I did mount my watercolor paper on to a base card of Bazzill Marshmallow for some strength but figure it still counts as a single layer card.

Over at Mix It Up they are looking for an optional twist of CAS, which my card is so I am entering it in their challenge.

I just wanted to be sure of you

I’m sharing my first ever Memorydex card today featuring the gorgeous Tiny Townie Huggy Friends from Stamping Bella.

This is also my project as guest DT for Crafting by Designs in their current ‘friend’ challenge.  You have until 27 February to enter your friend filled projects so come join in and spread a little cheer among your friends.

I’ve made this Memorydex card as the first in a series of 40 for my BFF who is turning 40 in May; each one featuring something about her that makes her such a special person.  Not only is this a milestone birthday for my friend but it marks 28 years of friendship making it a very extra special occasion, which happens to be the theme at the Alphabet Challenge so I’m linking my card up there.

But it’s not a regular greeting card so I’m also entering it in the current challenge at Die Cuttin’ Diva’s, where they want to see anything but a card.  I think it’s pretty obvious this is for a female friend and the stamped image is very much the focal point (you don’t have much space on a Memorydex card as I’ve discovered!).  Those two features mean this card also fits the requirements at Fashionable Stamping so I’m also linking up there.
